Artist’s Garden
Created using paints made with earth pigments from her garden and local environment, these paintings echo the annual cycles of plant growth and the deep layers of geological time revealed in the eroded hillsides and stream beds of her nearby hills and woodlands.

Referencing the tradition of botanical art, Sara’s interpretations of food plants, including roots, become curious specimens, each part of the dynamically balanced equilibrium of the garden ecosystem. The concept of disinterment as a byproduct of garden digging became a metaphor for personal grief, loss and renewal and the life-cycles of the organic world.
